L'Hebdo My Philippines — every week
My Philippines L'Hebdo #02: Southern Leyte, Bantayan and Bohol deals
Issue No. 02 — September 2026
This week My Philippines takes you away from the busiest routes: Southern Leyte, a still-unspoilt region where beaches, diving, Limasawa and whale shark encounters at Pintuyan show another side of the Philippines. This second issue also features my favourite stay on Bantayan Island, the Chellie Rose Resort Hotel, a hotel deal in Panglao and advice on choosing the right time to travel.
Southern Leyte: the Philippines without the crowds
Southern Leyte remains a genuine alternative to the most touristy parts of the country. Around Padre Burgos, Limasawa and Pintuyan you come for nature, the sea, diving and a far more local atmosphere. To enjoy the region without rushing, I recommend ideally four nights.
My favourite on Bantayan: Chellie Rose Resort Hotel
On Bantayan Island, Chellie Rose Resort Hotel is one of the places I enjoyed, for its seafront setting and its atmosphere — worth a look for travellers after more quiet and something different from the large resorts.
Bohol deal: Lime Resort Bohol in Panglao
In Panglao I saw a rate of PHP 3,750 per night at Lime Resort Bohol this week. Hotel prices vary widely with dates, demand and booking conditions: this is a rate observed by My Philippines, not a guaranteed price for every date.
Is February the best month to travel to the Philippines?
February usually brings good conditions in many regions, but it is also a high-demand month. In popular destinations such as El Nido, Coron or Boracay that can mean more people and higher prices. The best month also depends on your itinerary, the islands you pick and the kind of trip you want.
