How to choose a hotel in El Nido (and what the photos hide)

El Nido splits into four zones. Town: walking distance to restaurants and boats, but noisy until midnight. Corong-Corong: sunsets and quiet, five minutes by tricycle from town.
Lio Beach: the polished, resort-style area with the airport next door. Nacpan and Duli: beautiful and isolated, wrong choice if you want to eat out.
Two things the photos never show: the tide, which empties some beaches completely for hours, and the generators, which several small resorts run at night.
I keep a personal inspection list with room numbers to request and rooms to refuse. That list is the actual product I sell.
